Mónica Moreno has more than 10 years of experience in banking, mergers and acquisitions, energy and securities transactions. In the course of her career, she has been an associate at large New York and Panamanian law firms, in-house counsel at a bank in Panama, and general counsel for a Latin American private equity group. Ms. Moreno has represented major corporations and banks in the structuring, negotiation and successful closing of multiple cross-border transactions and has also assisted with the implementation of their internal policies.
Representative transactions include the US$395 million financing by the Government of Panama for the acquisition of the ENA Sur toll road via securitization of toll road receivables, Banco General’s US$250 million public issuance of corporate bonds, the US$90 million Scotiabank’s factoring transaction with Construtora Norberto Odebrecht related to the design, construction and operation of Panama’s water system, the acquisition of Banco Trasatlántico by Balboa Bank and Trust, Inc. and the post-acquisition merger and integration of both institutions, the project financing of Melones Oil Terminal by Global Bank, the US$50 million public issuance of revolving fiduciary participation certificates by BG Trust, the acquisition of Generación Solar’s solar farm in Chile and the first financing by the Inter-American Investment Corporation of a solar farm in Panama.
Ms. Moreno holds a Master of Laws in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University and a Licenciatura en Derecho y Ciencias Políticas, and speaks Spanish and English.
